Man Jailed for Six Years for Rape and Sexual Assault

Jacob Davies, 22, has been sentenced to six years in prison for a series of offenses including the rape of a 15-year-old girl and sexual assaults against two women. The crimes took place in Orkney between February 2018 and January 2021.

Davies was convicted last month of seven charges, including abduction, detention, assault, and rape. In one incident, he abducted the teenage girl, locked her in a public toilet, and detained her against her will. He then raped her after seizing and compressing her neck in the same toilet.

Davies also entered a property uninvited and attacked the same girl. He attempted to kiss another woman before groping her and later assaulted her to the danger of her life. Davies lifted the woman and seized her by the neck, restricting her breathing, causing her to lose consciousness.

In another incident, Davies groped a woman at Stromness Community Centre in Orkney. He then abducted her and detained her in public toilets at a nearby park.

Judge Lord Arthurson stated that the impact of Davies' crimes was "utterly devastating." He emphasized that a substantial custodial sentence was necessary due to the gravity of the offenses. Davies was given a nine-year extended sentence, including six years in prison and three years of supervision upon release. He was also placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
