Jake Pinhorn Drugged and Raped Woman After Meeting on Dating Site
Convicted sex offender Jake Pinhorn, 33, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for drugging and raping a woman after meeting her on an online dating site.
Pinhorn met his victim on an online dating site and went on to sexually abuse her at a hotel in Caerphilly after forcing her to drink a green liquid. The victim fell unconscious as Pinhorn committed several sexual acts upon her, designed to humiliate her. She woke up in immense pain, discovering her pubic hair had been shaved without consent.
Prosecutor Dan Jones stated the victim initially reported the incident to friends but did not contact police until three years later after watching a program featuring a woman who had experienced similar trauma. Pinhorn was arrested and interviewed, claiming all sexual acts were consensual. He was released on bail but later re-arrested when an IP address linked to his home was involved in the sharing of indecent images of children.
Electronic items seized from Pinhorn's house revealed 14,296 indecent images on his laptop. He initially claimed the device belonged to his then partner, who was subsequently arrested, but later accepted responsibility for the images.
In her victim impact statement, the victim described the profound and lasting effects of the assault, including nightmares, anxiety, depression, and an inability to trust others. She said: "Since making the decision to report the rape my life has never been the same... I struggle not knowing what happened when I was unconscious or if the defendant took pictures of me."
Judge Daniel Williams sentenced Pinhorn to 13 years imprisonment with an extended licence period of five years. He will serve two thirds of the custodial sentence before he is considered for parole.
