Sex pest sets fire to wreath on woman's front door in random attack.

Intoxicated Man Sets Fire to Woman's Door, Sexually Assaults Two Women

Jake Shead, 26, was sentenced to three years in prison for a series of offenses that occurred in Barry, Wales. On April 29, 2021, Shead repeatedly knocked on a woman's door, then set fire to a wreath on the door after she told him to leave.

The woman and her partner extinguished the fire with a vase of water, but the incident could have resulted in a house fire. Shead was shouting abuse at the fire brigade when they arrived and was subsequently arrested.

In a victim impact statement, the woman said the incident had a "significant impact" on her and her family, leaving her "terrified" for their safety.

Shead was also on bail for two sexual assault offenses that occurred on August 28, 2021. He grabbed a 16-year-old girl and attempted to hug and kiss her, before grabbing another woman between the legs. He denied the offenses but was found guilty following a trial.

In a statement, the 16-year-old victim said the incident made her "feel a lot more scared when out in public" and that she now has to be accompanied by someone when she goes out.

The second victim said the incident "affected me a lot and made me feel a lot more anxious out in public." She described Shead as having a "bad reputation" for assaulting young women and boys.

Shead has 18 previous convictions for offenses including drug possession, driving offenses, assault, and criminal damage. His defense attorney argued that he was intoxicated during the offenses and "didn't have a clue what he was doing."

Judge Geraint Walters sentenced Shead to three years imprisonment and made him subject to sex offender notification requirements for 10 years.
