James Dyer Jailed for Sex Offenses
Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, James Dyer, aged 37, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for various sex offenses committed in Wokingham.
Dyer, who is currently residing at HMP Five Wells, was convicted at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. He previously pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child, causing a child to watch/look at an image of sexual activity, and breaching his Sexual Harm Protection Order.
The investigation revealed that in February 2023, Dyer sent sexually explicit messages, videos, and voice notes to a child via Instagram. These actions violated his existing Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which prohibited him from communicating with children under 16.
Dyer was arrested on September 8, 2023, while already in prison, and sentenced to 18 months in prison. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for life.
Previous Offenses and Sentencing (August 2021)
In August 2021, Dyer was sentenced to two years and six months in prison for a series of offenses including sending indecent videos to two teenage girls and a woman in her 20s, as well as attempting to drag a woman out of her car while asking her to have sex with him.
Thames Valley Police described Dyer as a dangerous offender who displayed a pattern of predatory behavior towards young women. He was also issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years and restraining orders against his victims, also for a period of 10 years.
Detective Constable Nicola Henderson, who led the investigation, commended the victims for their bravery and courage in coming forward. She emphasized the importance of community support in protecting the public from dangerous individuals.
