Man Sentenced to Three Years for Sexually Abusing Child

James Joiner, 67, of The Meadows, has been sentenced to three years in prison for sexually abusing a child between February and May 2017.

Joiner was found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child following an earlier trial. He was sentenced on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Canterbury Crown Court.

Police staff investigator Stewart Ross-Cumming of Kent Police stated, "The offences committed by James Joiner caused his victim a great deal of emotional trauma, and she was very brave in coming forward to report what had happened to her."

Ross-Cumming continued, "I hope she can now continue to rebuild her life and take comfort in the fact that her abuser will now spend a significant length of time behind bars. Joiner has proven himself to pose a danger to children, and I am pleased no others will be at risk while he serves his custodial sentence."
