Former DJ Jailed for Sharing Child Abuse Images
A former DJ, James Russell, has been sentenced to two years in prison for sharing videos of babies being raped with fellow paedophiles. The court heard that Russell turned to alcohol, drugs, and sharing child sexual abuse images after his fiancée left him.
Russell, 36, of Leinster Avenue in Knowle West, pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent images of a child and two charges of distributing indecent images of a child. He admitted to possessing 171 Category A images depicting sexual abuse of children, including 18 movies, with victims ranging in age from 18 months to nine years old.
During the investigation, Russell claimed he was the abuser in the videos he distributed, but later admitted this was a fantasy. The court heard that Russell had distributed two Category A movies showing babies being raped to two other individuals.
Judge Euan Ambrose stated that the most striking feature of the case was the extremely young age of the children involved in the material Russell distributed. He added that Russell had shown a clear pattern of engaging in this type of behavior, despite claiming to be disgusted with himself.
Russell was also handed a ten-year sexual harm prevention order and ordered to register as a sex offender. His computer equipment was destroyed.
