Paedophile was caught with a sickening collection of abuse images featuring children as young as three-months old.

A 23-year-old man, Jamie McDougall, has been sentenced for possessing a sickening collection of child abuse images.

McDougall, of Mainsforth Terrace West, Sunderland, was found with over 2,500 illegal images and videos on his electronic devices following police raids in November 2019 and May 2020. The material depicted children as young as three months old.

Newcastle Crown Court heard that McDougall also had extreme pornography and disturbing footage he had secretly recorded of a young child using the toilet. The court was told that all the illegal material was acquired when McDougall was between the ages of 17 and 19.

Prosecutor Chris Baker stated that a "large number of victims" were featured in the images, with the age range of the children being between three months and 16 years old.

McDougall admitted to three charges of making indecent photographs of children, one of possessing extreme pornography, and one of voyeurism. He had no prior criminal record and has since acknowledged his actions and expressed a desire for help.

Fiona Lamb, defending McDougall, said he has accepted responsibility for his actions and is now seeking assistance. Mr Recorder Jonathan Sandiford KC acknowledged that the offences occurred "many years ago" and McDougall has a realistic chance of rehabilitation.

McDougall was sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years. He must participate in a rehabilitation program and comply with other requirements. Additionally, he is subject to a ten-year sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender.
