Paedophile who threatened to rape women and children will be set free soon.

A paedophile who has repeatedly threatened to rape women and children is set to be released next month.

Jay Ferguson, 22, of Liverpool Road, Huyton, has a history of sexual offending, including a 2017 incident where he put together a "rape kit" and threatened to abduct and rape a child.

He was imprisoned for 22 months, but within days of his release, he told police he had a child sex abuse video and a knife.

While in prison, he wrote to prison officers saying he intended to carry out a "violent rape" using the dating app Tinder upon release.

He was subsequently given an additional six months behind bars after writing to a female guard, threatening to hunt her down and rape her.

Ferguson was moved to a different prison and eventually released on February 26, 2023. However, within "two or three days," he breached his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and was arrested again on March 1.

The court heard that Ferguson had accessed two "female-only dating websites" and had also contacted his adult niece via Facebook Messenger, which was deemed a breach of the SHPO.

Ferguson admitted two breaches of his SHPO and has spent four months on remand in custody.

His criminal record includes assault, possession of a knife in public, attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, and malicious communications.

In 2017, he admitted to putting together a chilling "rape kit" and telling police he would abduct and rape a child.

He had been arrested after making rape threats to teenagers, children, and even the mother of one 15-year-old victim.

Ferguson's past disclosures regarding his intentions and "rape threats towards a female prison officer" were highlighted in court.

He was assessed as a "very high risk" of reconviction and causing serious harm to children, the public, and staff.

Despite this, Judge David Potter sentenced him to 10 months in prison, meaning he will be released in approximately a month.

The judge expressed concern about Ferguson's history and lack of confidence in his ability to refrain from further breaches.

Ferguson is set to be released in around a month's time.
