Paedophile found with 200,000 indecent images of children.
Man Sentenced for Possession of Child Abuse Images
A Southampton man, Jeffrey Bouquet, has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for possession of indecent images of children. Bouquet was originally handed a suspended sentence in April after officers found over 200,000 indecent images on his devices.
However, just four months later, Bouquet contacted his offender manager, claiming he had "accidentally clicked on a link" that led him to a prohibited website. After turning himself in, officers examined his devices again and discovered more indecent images.
Southampton Crown Court heard that Bouquet was found to have one category B image and 59 category C images, which had been downloaded from websites such as Tumblr. The prosecution stated that Bouquet had searched for terms like "teen girl" and that the images were found within his search history.
In mitigation, Bouquet's defense argued that he had accidentally clicked on the link while viewing lawful material. They highlighted his completion of 150 hours of unpaid work and progress in probation appointments since his initial suspended sentence.
Recorder Jane Rowley, presiding over the case, deemed Bouquet's initial sentence "lenient" and emphasized the need to send a message to others who continue to offend. Bouquet, of Albert Road South, Southampton, pleaded guilty to possessing category B and C images and was sentenced to 16 months in prison. He was also made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
