Man Jailed for Upskirting Two Girls

A man from Leeds has been jailed for nine months after being convicted of upskirting two young girls. 27-year-old Joel Humberstone was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.

The first incident occurred in Ripon in June 2024 when Humberstone photographed an 11-year-old girl as she walked to school. Two builders witnessed the crime and one chased Humberstone, who managed to escape. Police reviewed CCTV footage and identified Humberstone.

Humberstone was arrested but denied the offence and refused to cooperate with police. Despite this, he was charged and pleaded guilty to voyeurism and attempted voyeurism. While on his way to court for sentencing in February 2025, Humberstone committed a similar offence against a 17-year-old girl in Harrogate.

The second victim noticed Humberstone's phone brush against her leg and pushed him away before recording him and calling the police. Humberstone was arrested again and charged with another count of voyeurism.
