Wig-wearing paedophile with 14 names says he'd have raped girl if he hadn't been interrupted.
Dangerous Paedophile Jailed for Internet Offences
John Baker, a 41-year-old convicted paedophile with a history of sexual offences, has been jailed for accessing and possessing indecent images of children.
Baker, who has 13 aliases and has previously been convicted of indecently assaulting an eight-year-old girl, was caught accessing child pornography on his home computer. He admitted to viewing the images, including some of the most serious category, but claimed he did not receive sexual gratification from them.
Police found hundreds of indecent images on Baker's computer, including 363 at category A, the most serious, 235 at category B, and 342 at category C. There were also 16 prohibited images, although no detail was given of what these were.
Baker was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order indefinitely, which included a prohibition on him using the internet at home. However, he admitted to breaching this order by accessing the internet in the early hours while his partner was asleep.
In a chilling statement, Judge Mark Bury revealed that Baker had admitted to the probation service that he would have raped the eight-year-old girl he previously assaulted if he had not been interrupted by a school caretaker. The judge described Baker as a "high risk of serious harm to children and a very high risk of further offending."
Baker's barrister, Stephen Robinson, argued that Baker had been trying to protect his removals business by changing his name. However, the judge sentenced Baker to a significant prison term for his latest offences.
