Multimillionaire Property Investor Jailed for Indecent Assault

John Currell, 43, a multimillionaire property investor from Lisvane, Cardiff, has been sentenced to one year in prison for indecently assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

Currell was found guilty at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday and ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years. The court heard that Currell had given the girl a lift home, touched her inappropriately, and encouraged her to remove her clothing.

Judge Mark Furness, in his sentencing remarks, stated that Currell was fully aware the girl did not consent to his presence in her home. "You endeavored to create a sexual liaison with her and invited her to take her clothes off," the judge said.

Prosecutor Nicholas Gareth-Jones revealed that Currell repeatedly asked the girl to remove her top, which she refused. "Eventually, he touched her breasts, stomach, and back in a manner that was deliberate and indecent," Gareth-Jones stated.

The court was informed that Currell remained at the girl's residence until 5:30 am and later contacted her to request that the incident be kept "their little secret."

From the dock, Currell offered a full apology to the victim, stating, "I would like to say sorry for upsetting her."

Morgan Jenkins, Currell's defense attorney, highlighted the significant damage to his client's reputation as a result of the case. "He is concerned about the impact imprisonment will have on his family and business associates," Jenkins said.
