Johnathon Mallon

Age: 42

Town: Glasgow

Convicted: 17/04/2014

Serial rapist who targeted female victims in toilets and changing rooms.

A serial rapist who terrorized vulnerable women for 13 years has been jailed for life.

Jonathan Mallon, 32, was branded a "monster" by the judge as he was sentenced for a string of horrific offences that took place between 1999 and 2013. He raped five women and sexually assaulted a sixth, meeting many of his victims at church events.

The court heard how Mallon would charm his victims before becoming controlling and demanding sex. One victim, aged 21, said Mallon would demand sex two or three times a day, ignoring her pleas to stop. She described him as "too strong" to resist.

Mallon's crimes included raping one woman in a cinema toilet and another in a changing cubicle at a busy swimming pool. He also forced a woman to perform a sex act on him at a house in Paisley.

The judge, Bill Dunlop QC, described Mallon's actions as "monstrous" and said his victims had been left "devastated." He ordered Mallon to spend at least 10 years behind bars before being eligible for parole.

Detective Inspector Mark McGowan, who led the investigation, said Mallon was a "calculating individual, who preyed on the vulnerability of his victims."
