Sex Offender Jordan Haskard Lunges at Police Officer While Trying to Destroy Evidence of Child Sexual Abuse
A Nottinghamshire sex offender was sentenced to over 24 years after attempting to destroy evidence of child sexual abuse on his phone.
Jordan Haskard, 28, lunged at a police digital media officer who was examining his mobile phone, trying to break it in half. The device contained disturbing conversations and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children. This incident occurred during a warrant execution at Haskard's home in July 2024.
Haskard’s initial contact with Nottinghamshire Police came in June 2022 when officers discovered social media messages where he discussed child sexual abuse with another man. He also arranged for the man to send him a video of a toddler being abused, even making specific requests. This video led to the conviction of the perpetrator and was later found on Haskard’s previous phone during his arrest, along with nearly 600 extreme images.
While on bail for these offenses, Haskard came to police attention again after one of his social media accounts was linked to the distribution of prohibited images. This led to the discovery of the phone he attempted to destroy, hidden under clothes by his bed. Besides Category A rated images of child sexual abuse, the device contained discussions about the abduction and rape of children, as well as extreme animal cruelty images.
Haskard pleaded guilty to numerous charges including arranging the commission of a child sex offense, making indecent images of a child, distributing indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornographic images of an animal, and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
At Nottingham Crown Court, he was sentenced to an extended sentence of 24 years and seven months. This consists of 16 years and seven months in prison followed by eight years on extended license. During this period, any breach of his release conditions will result in immediate imprisonment. He is also subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that severely restricts his online activities and access to children upon release.
