Jordan Wagstaffe Jailed for 15 Years For Rape and Threats

A "misogynistic bully" who raped a woman and threatened her children has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Jordan Wagstaffe, 26, of Richmond Street in Hartlepool, was found guilty of six offences including multiple rapes. The court heard how Wagstaffe used threats, violence, and psychological manipulation to control his victim. He threatened to share intimate images of her and beat her dog with a baseball bat.

Judge Jonathan Carroll described Wagstaffe's actions as a "truly shocking example" of a "bullying male," fueled by a distorted sense of sexual entitlement and misogynistic beliefs. The judge stated that Wagstaffe posed a "high risk" to women and would remain so until he addressed his issues with alcohol and sexist attitudes.

The victim bravely spoke out in court, stating she was "devastated" by the impact of Wagstaffe's actions and believed he deserved imprisonment. She described him as a dangerous man who used violence and threats to control her.

Wagstaffe has been deemed a dangerous offender and will serve an extended licence of three years upon his release. He must also register as a sex offender for life and abide by a restraining order that prohibits him from entering his victim's hometown.
