Man Jailed for Breaching Court Order by Using Encrypted Messaging App

Jordan Williamson, 30, of Mount Pleasant Road in Davenham, was sentenced to 21 months in prison after breaching a sexual harm prevention order. Williamson was previously found with 718 indecent images of children and 457 extreme pornographic images.

In June 2022, Williamson was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order, prohibiting him from using messaging apps that delete their history. Despite this, he signed up to Wickr Me, an instant messaging app known for its self-destructing messages, using the username 'chavlad'.

Williamson's actions violated the terms of his sex offender register requirements, which mandate notifying police before subscribing to any new applications. He pleaded guilty to breaching the court order in Chester Magistrates' Court on December 1st, 2022.

On January 5th, 2023, Williamson appeared at Chester Crown Court for sentencing. Judge Simon Berkson sentenced him to 21 months in prison and ordered the confiscation of his mobile phone.
