Jordon Randall
Age: 32
Town: Kent
Convicted: 11/05/2018
Approaching child at bus stop and getting them to engage in sexual activity.
A man described as having a "Peter Pan Complex" has been jailed for five years after admitting to having sex with a 13-year-old girl and encouraging another girl to send him lewd photos.
Jordon Randall, 26, met the 13-year-old girl on Snapchat and drove her to a secluded wood where they had sex. He then blocked her on social media. He later groomed another 14-year-old girl, also on Snapchat, and after receiving a topless photo of her, he blocked her as well.
The 13-year-old victim, who was a virgin at the time, told the court she was so traumatized by the experience that she contemplated suicide. She said the incident had "played in her head day in and day out" and had led her to self-harm.
Judge Heather Norton, sentencing Randall at Canterbury Crown Court, said the case had taken two years to get to court, which was "unacceptable and cruel" to both the victims and the defendant. She also criticized Randall's actions, calling them "systematic grooming" designed to "improve his own self-worth" at the expense of his victims.
Detective Sergeant Paul Edwards described Randall as a "manipulative predator" who had "proven himself to be a very real danger to children." He commended the victims for their bravery in helping to bring Randall to justice.
An NSPCC spokesman said that the case highlighted the risks associated with social media and called for social media companies to use technology to flag up grooming behavior and warn children before they are at risk of abuse.
