Convicted Sex Offender Joseph Parkin Jailed for Eight Years

Joseph Parkin, a 26-year-old from Wakefield, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for engaging in sexual activity with a teenager. This conviction follows his release from prison for similar offences.

Parkin pleaded guilty to four charges of penetrative sexual activity with a boy under the age of 16 and two charges of breaching a Sexual Harm Protection Order. He was also found to have communicated with two other teenagers, further violating his order.

One victim came forward in October 2023, leading to Parkin's quick identification, arrest, and remand. West Yorkshire Police conducted thorough investigations into Parkin's contact with children, uncovering additional instances of offending.

Parkin was sentenced to eight years in prison at Leeds Crown Court last week and will be subject to a six-year extended licence period upon his release.
