Sexually assaulted two schoolgirls in an alleyway.
Justin Miller, a 20-year-old from Kidsgrove, has been sentenced to 21 months detention at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court for sexually assaulting two schoolgirls in an alleyway.
The incident occurred during the coronavirus lockdown. One of the girls had just tried to break up a fight between Miller and another man when Miller approached her and touched her bottom. He then asked her age, if she had a boyfriend, and placed his head next to hers, causing her to run to her friend.
Miller followed the girls and put his arm around one of them multiple times, touching towards her genital area. He also touched the other girl's leg and ran his hand up her thigh towards her genital area.
The girls fled to a house and called the police. When officers searched Miller's home, they found a sex toy in a suitcase. Miller admitted to police that he found the girl attractive.
The first victim stated that she was so traumatized by the incident that she didn't leave her house for five days. "I thought he was going to grab me and rape me," she said. "The incident made me feel scared to leave the house."
Miller pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault. In mitigation, his lawyer argued that he was drunk at the time and that the contact was brief and over clothing.
Judge Sally Hancox sentenced Miller to 21 months detention and placed him on the Sex Offenders' Register for 10 years. She also imposed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The judge stated that the probation service assessed Miller as a high risk of causing serious harm to children, especially females up to the age of 16.
