Blackburn Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault

In November 2021, a young woman was sexually assaulted at a house in Blackburn. The victim awoke to find 40-year-old Rashid in the same bed as her. He then engaged in sexual activity with her without her consent.

The victim was so traumatized that she fled the scene. Rashid, formerly of Cheetham Street, Blackburn, and now of no fixed address, was arrested later that same day and charged with rape.

On Monday, April 15th, Rashid appeared in the dock at Preston Crown Court and pleaded guilty to sexual assault by penetration.

Rashid, who has previous convictions for sexual offences and is a Registered Sex Offender, was remanded into custody and will be sentenced on June 3rd.
