Keith Lindop Sentenced to Five Years for Attempted Rape in Boston Car Park
A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to five years in prison for the attempted rape of a woman in a Boston car park.
Keith Lindop, of Station Street, Boston, pleaded guilty to charges of attempted rape and actual bodily harm at Lincoln Crown Court on November 15th, 2023. The attack occurred in the long stay car park on George Street just after 3:15 am BST on June 22nd, 2023. Police responded to a call from a member of the public who reported the incident and found the victim at a nearby McDonald's.
Lindop will serve his sentence in a young offenders' institution and has been given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offender's Register for life. He was also sentenced to 24 weeks imprisonment for the charge of actual bodily harm, to run concurrently with the five-year sentence.
Detective Constable Sarah Oliver, who led the investigation, commended the victim's courage in standing up to Lindop and escaping his attack. She described Lindop as "a predatory and dangerous individual" who had "watched and followed" the victim before carrying out the assault.
Inspector Ian Cotton of Boston Neighbourhood Policing echoed these sentiments, stating that tackling violence against women and girls is a priority and there should be no hiding place for those who prey on them.
