Keith Sayer
Age: 43
Town: Basingstoke
Convicted: 03/09/2020
Jailed after admitting having indecent images of children.
A Basingstoke man, Keith Sayer, has been sentenced to 3 years and 2 months in prison for possessing over 178,000 child sex abuse images.
Sayer, 39, had a "deliberate and systematic" filing system of the images, which included category A offenses involving "penetrative activity" as well as activity involving "an animal or sadism".
The court heard that Sayer's collection of images began immediately after his release from prison in 2014 for a previous conviction of possessing indecent images of children.
Police were tipped off in 2019 after detecting two IP addresses searching for child sexual abuse content. Sayer was found to be in possession of the images on 19 devices, including USB sticks and hard drives.
Sayer admitted to being "sick" and "obsessed" with the images, spending five hours a day looking at them. He was also found in possession of six paedophile manuals, cable ties, masking tape, bungee ties, children's colouring sets, and a newspaper article on the abduction of a child.
Recorder Adam Feest, sentencing Sayer, emphasized the harm caused by viewing child abuse images, stating that it creates a market for the continued abuse of children.
Sayer was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, an automatic disqualification from working with children, and the forfeiture and destruction of the images and manuals.
An NSPCC spokesperson said, "Behind these images are often children who have been subjected to unthinkable pain and suffering. By continually seeking out horrific quantities of this sickening material Sayer has helped to leave a trail of devastation by fuelling demand for more children to be abused."
