Business Owner Sentenced for Sexual Assault
Keith Warren, 54, owner of Newark Cue Club, was sentenced today to a two-year community order and placed on the sex offender register for five years after being found guilty of two counts of sexual assault.
Judge Mr Recorder Simon King, presiding over the case at Nottingham Crown Court, acknowledged Warren's "unblemished" life prior to the offenses but emphasized that his actions led to his current situation.
The victim, who was said to be "greatly distressed" by Warren's actions, reported two instances of sexual assault. Warren was found guilty on two of three charges at a retrial on January 16th.
The initial trial in April 2022 resulted in a hung jury, leading to the retrial. Judge King ordered Warren to participate in up to 45 rehabilitation activity requirement days for each offense, to be served concurrently.
A restraining order, also lasting five years, prohibits Warren from contacting the victim. Any violation of this order could result in imprisonment, the judge warned.
Judge King emphasized that all sexual assault offenses are considered serious by the court, but this specific case falls on the lower end of the spectrum. Warren was described as "not a predator who might present serious risk."
