Man Jailed for Sex Offences Returned to Prison After Giving Sweets to Children

Kenneth Pybus, 75, has been returned to prison after breaching a sexual harm prevention order by giving sweets and dog treats to children in County Durham.

Pybus was convicted in 2019 for child sexual offenses and sentenced to five years in prison by Norwich Crown Court. He was released on licence in February 2022 and moved to Sacriston, where he was under police monitoring.

However, Pybus began speaking to children in the area and giving them sweets and dog treats in an attempt to "establish relationships," according to Durham Crown Court.

Police became aware of his actions and arrested him, leading to his recall to prison.

Pybus pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching a sexual harm prevention order and was sentenced to 14 months in prison. Recorder Edward Legard described Pybus' behaviour as "classic grooming techniques."
