Kenneth Quinn
Age: 49
Town: Renfrewshire
Convicted: 08/12/2023
Thug who battered woman with dog lead caged for 27-year reign of violence and sex abuse.
Kenneth Quinn, 49, has been sentenced to prison for a string of violent attacks on a woman and a boy spanning four decades.
Quinn was convicted of 10 charges following a harrowing trial at the High Court in Glasgow. These charges included repeatedly raping the woman, assaulting her to the point of severe injury and permanent disfigurement, and engaging in abusive behaviour.
He was also found guilty of physically attacking the boy on numerous occasions, causing him injury.
The crimes occurred between 1994 and 2021 at various locations in Paisley, Renfrewshire, and the Scottish Borders.
The court heard that Quinn first assaulted the woman in the 1990s, and the abuse became so frequent that it was difficult to pinpoint the exact dates of each incident.
The physical abuse included Quinn striking the victim with a dog lead and shoes, kicking her down stairs, and throwing food at her. She also suffered a broken arm.
The trial heard that the victim was often humiliated and degraded, and would beg Quinn to stop.
The prosecution detailed a particularly brutal incident where Quinn held the woman in place and repeatedly struck her in the face with a bank card, leaving her with permanent scars.
Despite admitting to much of the physical violence, Quinn denied any sexual abuse, claiming to be "100% respectful" if the woman did not want sex.
However, he confessed to raping the woman when confronted, and hung his head in shame.
Quinn also denied the boy's account that he heard Quinn admit to raping the woman, claiming both the woman and the boy were lying.
The court heard that the boy was also subjected to abuse, including being thrown down stairs, grabbed by the hair, flung to the ground, and slapped on the head.
Quinn expressed remorse for his actions, stating that he was "utterly ashamed" of himself and "sorry to the bottom of his heart."
Sentencing was adjourned for reports.
