62-year-old Jailed for Non-Recent Child Sex Offenses in Daventry

Kevin Marriott, previously of Coalville, Leicestershire, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for sexually assaulting a girl under six at an address in Daventry several years ago.

Marriott's crimes came to light in 2021 when the victim, now an adult, bravely contacted the police to report the abuse. She had been told by Marriott not to tell anyone about the assaults.

Following an investigation, Marriott was charged with one count of indecent assault on a girl under 16 and one count of assaulting a girl under 16 by penetration.

Marriott pleaded not guilty to the charges and the case went to trial at Northampton Crown Court in November 2022. After a three-day trial, the jury unanimously found him guilty.

He was sentenced last week (January 15) to seven years in prison, with six years to be served in custody and one year on licence. Marriott will also be placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life.
