Sex Offender Jailed After Breaching Court Order

Kieran Slater, a 26-year-old sex offender, has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison after breaching a court order just weeks after being given a suspended sentence for child sex offences.

In August, Slater admitted to downloading and distributing indecent images of children and was placed under a sexual harm prevention order. However, he violated this order by installing Snapchat without notifying the police.

Police discovered a mobile phone containing indecent images of children hidden under Slater's pillow. When questioned, Slater claimed he had not changed his bedsheets for a year and was unaware of the phone's presence.

Judge Graeme Smith, presiding over the case at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, expressed his disappointment at Slater's repeated offenses, stating that the police had provided clear instructions which Slater disregarded.

Slater's defense attorney, Anis Ali, argued that the sexual harm prevention order was relatively new and Slater had accepted the consequences of his actions. He also described Slater as "relatively immature."

In addition to the prison sentence, Slater will remain on the sex offenders register and be subject to the sexual harm prevention order for the next 10 years.
