Paedophile Jailed After Being Caught With Vile Videos of Young Girls Being Raped

Lee Griffiths, 38, from Blaina, was sentenced to 58 weeks in prison after being found with child abuse films on a cracked iPad. The victims in the videos were aged between eight and 12, and Griffiths had expressed a desire for "dirtier" material online.

Prosecutor Christopher Evans described one of the movies, stating: "There was pain visible on the face of one girl."

Griffiths pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of indecent images of children. He had five category A images – the most serious kind – including three videos and two photographs, three category B images, and two category C images.

The sentencing came just weeks after Griffiths received a suspended prison sentence for assaulting an ex-girlfriend. He had no previous convictions for sex offences.

Paul Hewitt, representing Griffiths, argued that there was no evidence Griffiths had actively searched for the images, stating that they were sent to him. He also suggested that Griffiths could benefit from a sex offender programme.

Judge Carl Harrison, however, deemed a custodial sentence necessary, stating: "You had images of children being raped and you are also in breach of a suspended sentence. Only a custodial sentence can be justified."

Griffiths will have to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years and was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order until 2034. He will also have to pay a £156 victim surcharge.
