Teacher threatened not to submit a student's coursework - unless he sent him a naked photo.

Lecturer Jailed for Extortion and Indecent Messages

A lecturer has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for threatening to withhold a student's coursework unless he sent a nude photo.

Lewis Bryan, 29, was found guilty of two charges of coercing former students to look at sexual images and one charge of attempted extortion between January 2017 and March 2018.

Bryan, who taught at Dundee and Angus Colleges Arbroath campus, tried to blackmail one of the men by saying he wouldn't send coursework to the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) unless he received indecent material.

The court heard that one of the victims felt traumatized by the ordeal. Evidence presented included a screenshot of a selfie Bryan sent with the caption "send nudes (obviously)."

Bryan, who was working as a chef before his conviction, continues to deny his guilt. He was placed on the sex offenders register for a decade.

Dundee and Angus College confirmed that Bryan left the institution in 2018 and declined to comment further on the case.
