Child sex offender who bragged about being too clever for the police.

Sheffield Child Sex Offender Jailed for Bragging About Evading Police

Luke Whitfield, a 34-year-old man from Sheffield, has been sentenced to five years and nine months in prison after being found guilty of possessing and attempting to engage in sexual communication with children.

Whitfield was arrested following a police investigation that uncovered over 100 indecent images of children on his digital devices. He had also shared evidence of conversations with underage girls and photos of young children with another man, boasting that he was "too clever for the police."

Police discovered evidence of Whitfield arranging to meet an underage child, where he laughed and asked "how old do you think they are?". He also admitted to downloading numerous photos and videos of children.

Despite the overwhelming evidence, Whitfield initially denied the charges, claiming he had been "set up". However, he ultimately pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children and 13 counts of attempting to incite or engage in sexual communication with a child.

In addition to his prison sentence, Whitfield has been subjected to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender.
