Malcom Corbett: Paedophile Caught With Over 1,000 Child Abuse Images
A Nottingham paedophile who possessed over 1,000 vile child abuse images has been sentenced to an 18-month jail term, suspended for two years. Malcom Corbett, 55, was also ordered to attend 35 rehabilitation sessions and placed on the sex offender register for five years.
Corbett's arrest followed online chats with a decoy profile named "Poppy," who he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. He engaged in sexually explicit conversations, expressing his attraction to younger girls and requesting explicit images. When police searched Corbett's former residence in West Bridgford, they discovered 600 Category A child sex images and videos, along with hundreds more in categories B and C.
Sentencing Corbett at Nottingham Crown Court, Judge Stuart Rafferty condemned his actions, stating: "You should be ashamed of yourself. A man of your age propositioning girls, who you believed were real girls, aged 13, is simply outrageous." He added that these children have been sentenced to a living death due to the abuse depicted in the images.
The judge emphasized the devastating impact Corbett's actions have on victims, stating that they will never be whole again because their innocence and privacy have been stolen. While acknowledging Corbett's disabilities and loneliness, Judge Rafferty stressed the seriousness of his crimes and warned him against repeating them.
Corbett pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and three counts of making indecent images of children. This case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of child abuse and the importance of safeguarding children online.
