Man Jailed for Over a Decade for Raping Teenage Girl
Mark Fairman, 24, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for the rape of a teenage girl. The incident occurred in the early hours of December 27, 2018, during a gathering. Fairman remained at the address after the gathering and attempted to get the girl intoxicated over several hours.
While sitting on the sofa together, Fairman pinned the girl down and raped her. The victim, deeply traumatized by the event, initially kept silent.
Three months later, the terrified teenager confided in friends and family, leading to an investigation by Northumbria Police. Fairman, of Rowanberry Road, Longbenton, North Tyneside, was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of rape.
Fairman denied the charges but was found guilty at Newcastle Crown Court earlier this year. On Friday, April 19, he was sentenced to 12 years behind bars.
In addition to the prison sentence, Fairman was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for life, received a restraining order preventing contact with the victim, and was handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
