Night Tube sex attacker jailed after stroking sleeping woman's leg on train.
Man Jailed for Sexually Assaulting Sleeping Woman on Night Tube
Michal Piczak, 31, has been sentenced to one year in prison and placed on the sex offenders register for ten years after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a sleeping woman on the Night Tube.
The incident occurred in the early hours of September 29, 2019, when the victim was traveling home on a Victoria line night service. She fell asleep on the train and awoke to Piczak stroking her legs.
The victim kicked out to get Piczak away from her and then alerted station staff, shouting "Stop him, he's been touching me." A British Transport Police officer at Walthamstow Central Underground station immediately arrested Piczak on suspicion of sexual assault.
CCTV footage captured Piczak reaching over the aisle to touch the sleeping victim before moving next to her and stroking her legs.
Detective Constable Ibrar Ahmed, the investigating officer, stated: "Piczak is a sordid sex offender who targeted a lone woman as she slept and subjected her to a prolonged sexual assault. His jail term sends out a clear message to anyone who exhibits this type of behavior on the railway – we will catch you and bring you to justice without exception."
Piczak, of Station Road, Walthamstow, appeared at Inner London Crown Court on October 28, where he pleaded not guilty to sexual assault. After a trial, a jury found him guilty, and he was sentenced to one year imprisonment.
