Convicted: 22/01/2012
Police officer who raped seven year-old girl.
Former Thames Valley Police officer Mohammed Younas has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the rape and sexual abuse of a girl over an eight-year period.
The 43-year-old officer was sacked from the force after being disciplined for a series of offenses, including threatening witnesses who had lodged complaints against him and phoning a 14-year-old girl witness in a case he was dealing with and asking her to go on a date with him.
Judge Francis Sheridan described Younas's crimes as "despicable" and "the worst case" he had ever encountered. He told the disgraced constable that he had "walked around the street drunk, stopping traffic, threatened witnesses who made complaints against you and you rang a 14-year-old girl to ask her to go out with you."
The court heard that Younas began abusing the girl when she was just seven years old. He would rape her every other day and would make her touch him while they played board games. Younas's abuse escalated after he was dismissed from the police force.
Younas denied all 15 counts of rape and sexual assault against him, but was found guilty by a jury. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison and handed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order banning him from unsupervised contact or communication with a person under 16. He was also put on the Sex Offenders Register for an indefinite period and given a restraining order banning him from contacting the victims.
