Scarborough Sex Offender Jailed Again for Assaulting Girls and Burglary
Nathan Collinson, 33, a known sex offender and prolific criminal in Scarborough, has been sentenced to two years in prison for sexually assaulting two underage girls and burglarizing a hotel room.
The court heard that Collinson, while on bail for the sexual offenses, had entered a guest room at the Grand Hotel in Scarborough while the occupants were asleep, stealing £40 from the male victim's wallet.
CCTV footage captured Collinson approaching the two girls in October 2020, kissing them both, and touching one of them inappropriately over her clothing. He then followed the girls, engaging in further kissing and hugging, before briefly entering a house with them. While nothing untoward occurred inside the property, the girls were visibly distressed and reported the incident to the police.
Collinson, who has a history of criminal offenses dating back nearly 20 years, including numerous thefts and burglaries, admitted to three counts of sexual activity with a child, burglary, and possession of cannabis.
Judge Sean Morris, addressing Collinson during sentencing, stated, "Men of your age need to understand you don't start kissing and groping young girls. You were released on bail and went and burgled a hotel room where a couple were staying, and you disturbed them. It must have been a frightening event and you were in that hotel trying the doors, trying to steal. You are a prolific offender."
In addition to the two-year prison sentence, Collinson was also made subject to a six-year sexual-harm prevention order and placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
