Former Fareham Teacher Jailed for Sexual Offences Against School Child

Nicholas Brooks, now aged 71 and of Park Gate, has been sentenced to three years in prison for non-recent sexual offences against a school child. Brooks, a former teacher at Meoncross School in Stubbington, committed the offences between 2008 and 2011.

The allegations came to light in 2020 when a woman contacted the police to report abuse she suffered at the hands of Brooks while she was a student at the school. The woman described feeling "trapped" by Brooks, with the offences taking place on school grounds, at Brooks's home, and in his car.

Following an investigation, Brooks was found guilty of four counts of sexual activity with a child aged 13-17 – adult abusing a position of trust – and two counts of being an adult abusing their position of trust to cause/incite sexual activity with a girl aged 13-17. The verdict was reached at Southampton Crown Court on December 13, 2023.

Brooks was sentenced on January 26, 2024, at the same court.
