Nicholas McLeavey
Age: 54
Town: Leicester
Convicted: 09/01/2021
Sexually abused a five-year-old girl.
A 51-year-old man, formerly of Netherhall, Leicester, was found guilty this week by a jury of three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Leicestershire Police has released a photograph of the paedophile, identified as McLeavey, after his conviction.
The abuse was brought to light when the child confided in her mother, who then reported it to the authorities.
Despite denying the offences, McLeavey was unanimously convicted by the jury. He was sentenced to eight years in prison at Leicester Crown Court on Tuesday, June 8.
The judge imposed a lifetime registration on the sex offenders register for McLeavey and issued a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. Additionally, a 10-year restraining order prohibits him from contacting the prosecution witnesses, including the victim.
Detective Sergeant Lisa Wood stated: "McLeavey believed he could escape accountability for his abhorrent acts against a vulnerable young girl. However, the victim's bravery and the subsequent report to the police allowed us to conduct a thorough investigation, leading to McLeavey's conviction and a substantial sentence."
"While this will never fully erase the trauma for the victim and her family, we hope this conviction provides some measure of solace as they navigate their healing journey."
