Sex Offender Jailed for 15 Years for Repeated Rape of Young Girl

Nicholas Smith, 44, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the repeated rape of a young girl over a five-month period. The abuse, which included sexual assault and forcing the girl to watch sexual acts, occurred between January and June 2022.

Smith, of Oakenhall Avenue, Hucknall, preyed upon the girl and raped her up to six times, warning her not to tell anyone or they would both face prison. The girl eventually confided in friends and teachers at her school, prompting an investigation by detectives.

In addition to the 15-year prison sentence, Smith will serve a further five years on licence after his release. He is also subject to a lifetime restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim and has been placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life.

Smith pleaded guilty to two counts of raping a girl under the age of 13, sexual assault of a child, causing a child to look at sexual activity, and two counts of making an indecent image of a child. The sentencing took place at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, December 8th.
