Rapist guilty of 24 sex offences targeted girls as young as eight.

Serial Sex Offender Sentenced to 28.5 Years for Abusing Girls as Young as Eight

Patrick Clogg, 50, was sentenced to 28.5 years in prison on June 26, 2024, after being convicted of 24 sex offenses, including multiple counts of rape, at Sheffield Crown Court.

Clogg, who previously resided in Rotherham and later Valley Drive, Branton, Doncaster, was found guilty of abusing multiple young girls, some as young as eight. The victims described the devastating impact of his crimes, stating that he had "taken away" their childhoods, leaving them with severe psychological harm and difficulties trusting others.

Judge Rachael Harrison, sentencing Clogg, described him as "manipulative" and stated that he used a combination of "coercion" and "threats" to commit his offenses and silence his victims. Clogg had told the girls they "would not be believed" if they reported him, and also threatened to harm himself and even "chop" one of the girl's "fingers off" to conceal his crimes.

Despite being found guilty on all 24 charges, Clogg has refused to take responsibility for his actions, as evidenced in his pre-sentence report. Judge Harrison considered passing a life sentence, acknowledging that Clogg poses a high risk to children. However, she opted for a lengthy sentence of 28.5 years, consisting of 26.5 years in custody and an additional two years on licence.

In addition to the prison sentence, Clogg was also made subject to restraining and sexual harm prevention orders and ordered to register as a sex offender. The judge highlighted the gravity of his crimes and the need for a substantial sentence to protect the public from further harm.
