County Durham Man Jailed for Historic Sexual Offence Against a Child

A County Durham man has been jailed for committing a historic sexual offence against a child. Paul Cranston, 54, of Stanley, County Durham, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for carrying out sexual activity against a child between December 2008 and December 2016.

Cranston appeared at Durham Crown Court on Friday, February 3, where he was sentenced for one count of sexual activity with a child. He had been found guilty of the offence after a trial on December 8.

Judge James Adkin, the Recorder of Durham, imposed the 10-year prison sentence and also issued an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. Cranston will also be required to register as a sex offender for an indefinite period.
