Paul Redford Jailed for Downloading Thousands of Indecent Images of Children

Paul Redford, a 64-year-old man from Ramsgate, Kent, was sentenced to two years and four months in prison for downloading and distributing thousands of indecent images of children.

Redford joined a social media application in 2022 where he accessed and shared these harmful images with other users. In March 2024, officers from Kent Police's Paedophile Online Investigation Team raided Redford's home following information received about the illegal activity.

Upon their arrival, Redford admitted to his crimes. A forensic examination of his phone revealed 730 category A images and videos (the most serious), 642 category B, and 944 category C images. He was also found to have distributed 40 images and videos through the social media platform.

Redford pleaded guilty to charges of making and distributing indecent images of children, as well as possessing extreme pornography and prohibited items. In addition to his prison sentence, he was given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and will be subject to strict sex offender notification requirements for the next decade.
