Sex Offender Denies Breaching Court Order

A sex offender has denied breaching a court order over allegations he struck up a friendship with a woman.

Paul Richards, 57, is currently subject to a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) which dates back to 2012. He is alleged to have breached the order by entering into a friendship with a woman, which is prohibited under the terms of the SHPO.

Richards, of Lovaine Street, Middlesbrough, appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court on Friday, April 14. He spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, address, and to enter a plea of not guilty.

He was represented by Brett Wildridge and was given conditional bail. Richards will next appear at Teesside Crown Court on May 12.
