Philip Cliffe Jailed for Four Years After Police Find Thousands of Child Abuse Images at His Home

A Nottinghamshire man has been jailed for four years after police discovered thousands of child abuse images at his home.

Philip Cliffe, aged 41, from Carlton, came to the attention of Nottinghamshire Police in October 2023 when his IP address was linked to images of child sexual abuse. A search of his home address uncovered several electronic devices, including a laptop and a memory stick. Forensic analysis revealed thousands of images depicting the sexual abuse of children, some as young as babies.

Approximately 1,000 of the images were classified as Category A, representing the most serious type of child abuse. Cliffe's devices also contained extreme adult pornography.

Cliffe declined to answer police questions during his interview but later pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, possessing a prohibited image of a child, and possessing extreme (adult) pornographic images.

He was sentenced to four years imprisonment at Nottinghamshire Crown Court on Friday.
