Philip Hamer Found Guilty of Sexual Offences Against Eight Victims
Philip Hamer, a former ice hockey player and television extra, has been found guilty of multiple sexual offenses against eight victims.
Hamer, 34, from Birchfield Drive in Worsley, Manchester, admitted to several offenses but was convicted by a jury at Manchester Crown Court on Friday, November 29, 2024, of an additional 21 charges. These include eight counts of rape, seven counts of sexual assault, six counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and one count of sexual activity with a child. The offenses spanned from 2010 to 2023.
The investigation revealed that Hamer used social media platforms to target and groom his victims, many of whom were teenagers at the time of the abuse. He manipulated them into sending him hundreds of pictures and videos over a seven-year period and tracked their movements. In one instance, Hamer sexually assaulted an actress while working as an extra on a television show.
Detectives discovered voyeuristic videos and pictures Hamer had taken of people in changing rooms without their knowledge. His phone, seized after one victim came forward, enabled police to identify and locate additional victims. Hamer will be sentenced on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
