Sex Offender Phillip Davies Jailed for Breaching Court Order
Phillip Davies, a 55-year-old from Hawarden Road, Caergwrle, was sentenced to two years in prison for breaching a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO).
Davies had been convicted in February 2024 of attempting to cause a child to engage in a sexual act and attempted sexual communication with a child. This led to the implementation of a 10-year SHPO, which included monitoring software installed on his mobile phone to track his online activity.
In April 2024, officers discovered Davies was receiving notifications from dating sites despite no evidence of him using such sites in his internet history. He claimed the monitoring software had stopped working, but this was proven false after checks revealed he had deliberately disabled it.
Judge Niclas Parry emphasized that Davies' actions represented a deliberate breach of the court order imposed for serious sexual offences. Despite demonstrating "near-exemplary" compliance with other aspects of his suspended sentence, the judge deemed the breach too severe and sentenced Davies to 12 months concurrent on each breach offense, along with activating 12 months of the breached suspended sentence, resulting in a total of two years imprisonment.
