Teaching assistant had sex with 15-year-old pupil and told him: 'Age is just a number'.

A school teaching assistant has been sentenced to a 12-month suspended jail term for having sex with a 15-year-old boy.

Rebecca Williams, 21, met the boy online and exchanged flirtatious messages with him, including telling him "Age is just a number" and "You're fit," Mold Crown Court heard.

Williams picked up the boy in her car and took him to her home, where they watched TV before she took him to her bedroom. The boy described the first encounter as "awkward" but said they kissed and had sex.

Williams later contacted the boy to arrange another meeting, and they had sex again. However, the boy eventually blocked Williams on messaging apps because she wanted a relationship, and he was not interested.

Rumors about the relationship between Williams and the boy began circulating among staff at the school. The headteacher questioned Williams, who denied any wrongdoing. However, social services and police were alerted, and the boy confirmed that he had sex with Williams.

The prosecutor stated that some of the messages exchanged between Williams and the boy must have been sent on school grounds, further aggravating the offense.

Williams pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a boy under 16 and abuse of a position of trust.

In sentencing, Judge Nicola Saffman stated that Williams knew what she was doing and had groomed the boy to engage in a sexual relationship. She highlighted the fact that the boy had ended the relationship, but Williams persisted. Judge Saffman also acknowledged that there was a delay in the case, and Williams had since rehabilitated herself.

Williams was ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work and to register as a sex offender for 10 years. She is also banned from working with children.
