Rhys Jones Paedophile Who Posed A Risk To Children Went On The Run
Rhys Jones, a convicted paedophile posing a risk to children, has absconded from authorities.
Jones, 31, was sentenced in 2022 at Cardiff Crown Court for possessing indecent images of children. He received a community order, along with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and sex offender notification requirements, mandating probation service monitoring.
In February 2023, Jones was given an 18-month suspended jail term for breaching these orders. He was also ordered to complete unpaid work, participate in rehabilitation programs, and undergo alcohol abstinence monitoring.
Despite this, Jones absconded between September 27 and October 2, 2023, leaving his accommodation at the Three Saint Hotel in Llantrisant without informing authorities. He was subsequently detained, arrested, and remanded in custody.
The probation service no longer considers the suspended sentence order viable due to Jones's repeated offenses and believes he poses a risk to children and potential danger to family members through domestic violence.
Jones pleaded guilty to breaching the Sexual Harm Prevention Order and failing to surrender. He was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment on December 6, 2023, but will be released shortly due to time served on remand.
