Sex Offender Jailed for Possessing 50,000 Indecent Images and Orchestrating Child Abuse

Richard Haswell, 62, from Wolverhampton, has been sentenced to six years in prison for possessing over 50,000 indecent images of children and arranging the sexual abuse of children for custom videos.

West Midlands Police revealed that Haswell was communicating with another sex offender in the Philippines and directing the abuse that should be carried out for the videos. He claimed he was being pressured to send money to the abuser, but could not explain why he didn't block them.

Officers discovered the images on Haswell's devices when they searched his home in Cornwall Road in July 2022. The images included children as young as six months old, along with extreme pornography.

At Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday, Haswell pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images, possessing extreme pornography, six counts of making indecent images, and two counts of arranging or facilitating a child sex offence.

He will serve three years on licence after his release and was also given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
