Sex Offender Jailed for Attacks on Woman in Middlesbrough

A sex offender has been locked up after attacking a woman on Teesside.

Richard Marsden, 27, of Locksley Close, North Shields, North Tyneside, carried out two sexual assaults on the female in the Middlesbrough area in July 2022.

He first appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court in August 2023 and was transferred to Teesside Crown Court due to the severity of the charges. He was granted unconditional bail until his hearing on September 24.

At the Crown Court hearing, Marsden pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by penetration.

He was sentenced on December 6 by Judge Tim Stead, who jailed him for three years and ordered him to sign the sex offender register for an indefinite period.
