Sex pest Richard Strange clambered into bedroom window.
Former MoD worker Richard Strange, 29, faced charges for sexual assault and battery after a bizarre incident involving a teenage girl and his partner.
In the middle of the night, intoxicated by alcohol and cocaine, Strange climbed through an open window at a house, believing it to be the home of a teenage girl he was interested in. However, he mistakenly entered her mother's bedroom.
Upon realizing his error, Strange quickly apologized and attempted to leave. He then encountered the teenage girl and her younger sister on the landing, having been alerted to the presence of an intruder. Strange, according to the prosecutor Tim Dracass, approached the older girl and told her he had a crush on her, proceeding to kiss her on the mouth and lick her lips.
After leaving the house, Strange returned to his partner Lucy Harley's home. An argument ensued, escalating to physical violence, where he pushed Harley to the floor and punched her three times in the face.
Strange, of Duttons Road, Romsey, was found guilty of sexual assault but admitted to the charge of battery. Judge Jeremy Burford QC sentenced him to 12 months of supervision and ordered him to participate in various programs run by the probation service, including one focusing on domestic violence. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for five years.
The judge acknowledged that a prison sentence would usually be warranted, but considered the time Strange had already spent in custody and his recent clean drug tests.
